Cotton vs polyester vs blend: which fabric for your custom shirts?

Short answer: Choose 100% cotton for the softest feel and richest everyday prints; polyester for sweat-wicking sports and outdoor wear; and a cotton/poly blend when you want a middle ground that’s soft, durable, and a bit cheaper. For most group shirts people wear day to day, a heavyweight combed-cotton tee is the safest pick.

FAQ

What’s the most popular fabric for group shirts? A heavyweight (200gsm+) combed-cotton tee — soft, durable, and prints beautifully for everyday wear.

Which fabric is best for printing photos or full-color art? Polyester via sublimation gives edge-to-edge color, but cotton with DTF also prints rich full-color. We’ll match the method to your design.

Are blends cheaper than 100% cotton? Often, yes — basic cotton/poly blends are usually the lowest price per shirt, which makes them popular for large fundraiser runs.
